In today’s world, suffering, pain, sickness, accidents, death has increased tremendously. During this time people run all over the world to get peace, healing and consolation, but they do not find it… This is because, “the world and its desires are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever” – 1 John 2:17. The world can offer you the best of all material things that you want, but it cannot give you peace and happiness of mind. That is why the word of God tells us, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world” – 1 John 2:15
The young generation today are being attracted towards music, internet, fashion and so on and are always trying to cope with the competition that is around them. But Jesus is telling us, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away” – Mark. 13:31. “The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the word of our God will stand forever” – Isaiah. 40:8.
We have before us two ways:- One is the narrow, difficult path which will lead us to eternal salvation. The other is the wide, uncertain path which will lead us nowhere. We need to make a decision: to follow the world or obey the “Word”. The world can give us only pain, suffering, depression and death. But the Word can give us life. Thus, Jesus says, “It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” – John. 6:63. “He has placed before you fire and water; stretch out your hand for whichever you choose. Before each person are life and death, and whichever one chooses will be given” – Sirach. 15:16-17.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, trust in the Word and all others will be taken care of. “The word is very near to you, in your mouth, in your heart for you to observe.” – Deut. 30:14.
