My dear brothers and sisters, I am confidently able to say that truly ‘I am the chosen one’. As the word tells, “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9
Jesus tells us a parable about the wedding banquet, where the King sends his slaves to call all the invited guests. But none of the guests took the invitation seriously and refuse to attend the banquet. The King was enraged and sent his slaves again to call all those who were on the streets, both good and bad; so the wedding hall was filled with guests. But the King noticed a man who was not wearing a wedding robe. So he was bound and thrown into the outer darkness - Matthew. 22:1-13. Though this parable, Jesus explains that “Many are called, but few are chosen.” – Matthew. 22:14.
In the old testament we read, God calls Moses and chooses him to go to Egypt and to rescue all the Israelites - Exodus. 3:12.
Abram was also called among his who kindred and he was chosen to be a great blessing for a multitude of people - Genesis 12:1-3. Again God commissions Joshua saying, “No one shall be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” – Joshua. 1:5-9. Thus, Joshua was chosen to work of the Lord.
The boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord under Eli. And God calls to Samuel and chooses him as a messenger to pass on the word that the Lord speaks against the house of Eli – 1 Samuel 3:1-18.
God again chooses the man of unclean lips, Isaiah to speak the word of God - Isaiah. 6:5-8.
The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah also saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah. 1:5
When God calls and chooses, he does not see your outward appearance; for God always looks at the heart – 1 Samuel 16:7
Now, there are many who are called in the Kingdom of God. but only few are chosen to be powerful instruments to bring people to the Lord. May you and me be that powerful instrument chosen by the Lord. Amen.
