Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness.” – Psalm 115:1

The word of God teaches us to glorify only God and not other creation or creature. “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.” – Psalm 96:3. “Yours, O Lord, are the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heavens and on the earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.”- 1 Chronicles 29:11. God has created only us, human beings in his likeness and in his image. “And we were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:20.

We can glorify God with our lips by thanking him for all the blessings he has showered on us and by thanking him for all that he has done in our lives. As St. Paul says, “So that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory.” – Ephesians 1:12.

We can glorify God by listening to his word and obeying his commands. By obeying God’s word we set a good example to the people around us. And we become a reason for them to know God and to glorify him. As we read “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”- Matthew 5:16.

We can glorify God by praying in Jesus’s name. God sent his only Son, Jesus to the world, so that we may acknowledge him as a true God and Saviour. For Jesus himself says, “I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” - John 14:13.

God alone is the one who has power over everything; and he does great and awesome works. “For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be revered above all god’s.” - 1 Chronicles 16:25.

We must glorify God because he is holy and there is no one like him. “You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy.”- Leviticus 19:2. His acts of mercy his kindness towards us, his acts of judgement and most importantly, the death and resurrection of Jesus – all of these reveal his glory.
In our whole being we need to glorify God- in our bodies, mind, actions, words and our whole self in soul and spirit too. So my dear brothers and sisters, let us learn to glorify God in our daily lives. Let us spend more time in prayer and supplication. Let us acknowledge God’s only son, Jesus Christ as our true Lord and Saviour. “So, whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.”- 1 Corinthians 10:31.

Praise the Lord.
