Building a relationship with God is a very important task in our lives. Relationship means an intimacy with God. It means to have a very close and personal relationship with God. It involves listening to him, talking to him and experiencing him in your life. This relationship should be built on love, trust and deep respect for God.
Just like the relationship between a husband and wife, so should our relationship be with God. A man and woman in marriage learn to love each other without any condition and they are ready to do anything for each other. They trust each other blindly and respect the decisions of each other. We read about the deep relation that King David built with the Lord. He says, “O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” – Psalm 63:1. King David surrendered his whole life to the Lord. He did not allow anyone or anything to come between him and the Lord. “As the ark of the covenant came into the city of David, Michal daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.” – 2 Samuel 6:16. But David did not let anyone come between him and God. He says, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4.
God is always ready to accept us in his arms. “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” – James 4:8. We need to go to him first and hold his outstretched arms. “Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31. “God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8. It does not matter to God how we are. He only loves, loves and loves us. We need to make that decision and move towards him hold his hand and walk our journey of life. For he Says, “Do not Fear I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10.
Just like a woman who is ready to marry a man who she knows maybe for a few years only; she is ready to spend the whole life with him. She is ready to blindly believe in him, so should our relationship be with God.
The intimacy between me and my God is wonderful as I have given my whole self to him who loves me, who cares for me, who forgives me, who saves me and who is with me at all times. And he is none other than my Jesus Christ. No person, no thing or no power can come between me and my Christ. I will live for him and I will die for him. Let this be the purpose for everyone’s life from now on. I assure you, my brothers and sisters, you will never regret taking such a decision.
God bless us all.
