Prayer is basically lifting our minds and hearts to God requesting him to grant our needs and wishes. We always ask other people to pray for us. We explain our problems and our physical needs to people expecting them to pray. But who exactly is going to answer our prayers? Is it the people we go to? No, my dear brothers and sisters. The Word of God tells us, “Ask, and it will be given to you; search and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you.” – Matthew 7:7. These words are said by Jesus Christ; the only one who can answer all our prayers. “Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”- Philippians 4:6.

Jesus is the only one who teaches us to pray in the right way. He says “But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”- Matthew 6:6. This means that we must shut ourselves to the desires of this world, the greed for riches, the desire of the eyes and every physical desire. We need to surrender ourselves completely to the Lord; our thoughts, minds, words, deeds and our bodies and souls. This is when we become one with the Lord.

It is truly God’s will that we pray to him at all times. For the word says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

Prayer is a way to destroy fear. It is a way to remove all sorrow in our hearts. It is a way to hope. There is truly power in prayer. When we pray continuously, with full conviction, without the loss of hope, then miracles surely take place. Prayer is not just asking. It is to put oneself in the hands of God. We read in Luke 18; Jesus tells a parable about the need to pray always and not to lose heart.

Rejoioce In hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.” – Romans 12:12. It is always better to have a heart and pray rather than praying without a heart.

Praise the Lord.
