“O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.” – Psalm 107:1. “I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to you among the nations.” – Psalm 108:3. “We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks; your name is near. People tell of your wondrous deeds.” – Psalm 75:1.

My dear brothers and sisters, from the time we were conceived in the womb of our mother till this very moment, the Lord has protected us from all evil, accidents, untimely deaths, diseases, sicknesses; the Lord has provided us all our needs, wants, desires, food, clothing, shelter; the Lord has guided us through all our struggles, our weaknesses our plans and our decisions; and how many times we have really thanked the Lord, our God, Jesus Christ? This is one question we really need to ask ourselves.

Kind David never failed to thank the Lord day and night in all his weaknesses and strength, in all his fears and worries. “You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my soul may praise you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.” – Psalm 30:11-12

The more we thank the Lord, the more graces and blessings we receive from him. That is why St. Paul says, “Be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Ephesians 5:18-20.

So my dear brothers and sisters, let us from this moment thank the Lord not only in times of joy but also in sorrow, in pain, in worry, in difficulties, in hard situations at all times and believe that the Lord is surely going to bring you out of that situation or problem with ease. “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” – Colossians 3:17
