We all are born in the world, live in the world and die in the world, while living here on earth, we live as though we will live here forever. But the truth is, this world is only an illusion, a maya and will disappear from our life, when our end draws near. And that is why the word of God reminds us saying “Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world; for all that is in the world – the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches – comes not from the Father but from the world. And the world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever” (1 Jn 2:15-17)

Very true, dear friends everything here on earth will pass away one day from our lives. Hence do not desire this world or things in this world. The word of God very truly tells us, if we love this world we cannot love God. “Do you not know that friendship with the world is enemity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God” (James. 4:4). So, we have to choose between God and world. In the gospels we read “No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” (Mathew. 6:24)

Therefore, let not our struggle here on earth be, struggling to store up treasures for ourselves. Remember the words of Jesus “What does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, but lose or forfeit his soul” (Luke. 9:25). So let our concern be, to accumulate treasures in heaven. And that is what Jesus tells us “Do not store up for yourselves, treasures on earth, where moth and rust, consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves, treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust, consumers, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart will be also” (Mathew. 6:19-21). Remember what do you want, momentary bliss or eternal joy? Choice is yours. Amen.
