When the sun sets, we know that very soon the same sun will rise and there will be brightness again. When a tree sheds its leaves, we know that in due time the same tree will grow new leaves again. When a flower dies, we know that the same plant will have another bud that is waiting to bloom. When we abandon our Lord Jesus Christ, many of us do not know that there will be no light, no growth and no life in our lives. But if we hold on to Jesus there is a ray of hope that will surely bring us out from darkness into light, from bondage of sin to freedom, from the pit to the land of the living. So that what had been spoken to prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, “the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and for those who sat in the region and shadow of death, light has dawned.”- Matt. 4:16.

There is always hope when we turn to Jesus in our times of sorrow, depression, sickness and sin. “Our God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relents from punishing.”- Joel 2:13. When the prodigal son decided to return to his father’s house, there was hope for him that his life would be normal again and he would have good foof and good clothing again. When he left his father’s house he squandered his property in dissolute living. But when he went back to his father’s house he said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.”- Luke 15:21. His father rejoiced at the return of his son and began to celebrate.

This is the hope that Jesus is giving each one of us at this moment when the whole world is going through a severe pandemic. If we cling on to Jesus he will save us. “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.”- Acts 4:12.
